Saint Lucia: Ernest Hilaire shares glimpses from Carnival Queen Sashing event

Ernest Hilaire, who handles the responsibility for the Ministry of the creative economy, tourism and Investment et al., shared glimpses of the sashing ceremony of the Miss Carnival Queen. The Pageant will be a part of the Carnival of Saint Lucia. The sashing ceremony took place on May 4, 2023.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Ernest Hilaire, who handles the responsibility for the Ministry of the creative economy, tourism and Investment et al., shared glimpses of the sashing ceremony of the Miss Carnival Queen. The Pageant will be a part of the Carnival of Saint Lucia. The sashing ceremony took place on May 4, 2023. The Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia was present at the sashing ceremony along with several other prominent government members. 

The Carnival Planning and Management Committee entered into a collaboration with the national carnival queen committee to host the sashing ceremony. During the sashing ceremony of the National Carnival Queen Pageant, the organizers revealed the sponsors’ names supporting each contestant. The National Carnival Queen Pageant will take place on July 1, 2023.

Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire shared some glimpses into the proceedings on his social media. He wrote on his social media, Happening Now is the Sashing Ceremony for the 2023 National Carnival Queen Show. The National Carnival Committee of Saint Lucia will host the National Carnival from July 1 to July 19, 2023. The following contestants will be competing for the title of the National Carnival Queen

Contestant Number 1 is  Akia Chiquot. She holds the title of Miss Laborie Credit Union (Laborie)

Contestant Number 2 is Tyler Disulk. She is Miss Saint Lucia Investments (Fond Coolie)

Shantel Edward is the third contestant to compete for the title of Miss National Carnival Queen. She Miss 1st National Bank (Bocage, Castries)

Contestant Number 4, Shanice Butcher, holds the title of Miss Caribbean Galaxy Real Estate (Bisee, Castries)

Contestant Number 5, Maria Edmund, is the winner of the title of Miss Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (Ciceron, Castries)

Leana Lewis is the Sixth Contestant in the Pageant. She holds the title of Miss Pierre Marcel (Dennery)

Contestant Number 7, Jernais Perineau, holds the title of Miss FICS (Bois d’Orange, Gros Islet)

Jadyn Leonty, who holds the title of Miss Massy Stores (Forestiere, Castries), is the 8th contestant to compete in the Pageant.

Contestant Number 9, St. Rose, holds the title of Miss BOSL Digital (Soufriere)

The Final Contestant, Aliyel Fontenelle, holds the title of Miss Harbor Club (Gros Islet)

Ordinarily, eight contestants compete for the title of the National Carnival Queen. However, this year, the line-up consists of two “wild card contestants” bringing the total to 10. The Carnival Planning and Management Committee of Saint Lucia unvieled the contestants and their sponsors during the Sashing Ceremony
