Bayelsa: Douye Diri receives Navy War school Participants for crucial talks

The Governor of Bayelsa, Senator Douye Diri, the head of the state’s unity government, received the course 7′ participants of the Nigerian Naval War College. The meeting between the Governor and the students occurred on April 11, 2023. Governor Diri held the meeting at the Conference Hall of Government House, Yenagoa.

As per the reports, the participants are on an environmental study tour in the State. Meanwhile, Through this tour, they hope to look into the issues of waterways inland security. Course 7′ Nigerian Naval War College participants will also look into the sector’s social-economic development. This will allow them to ascertain the state’s capacity to tap from the wealth of the marine domain, the “blue economy.”

Governor Douye Diri believes that the only way is to collaborate with the country’s Navy and other maritime agencies. The team Navy team in question comprised personnel from the Army, Airforce, and Navy. Rear Admiral S. A Akinwande, the Commandant of the War College.

Governor Diri remarked at the composition of the team. He saidr, “Interestingly, all of you are not even of the Navy. You have an added mixture of all the other military in this course. I think that is the best way for us to collaborate and partner.

The governor delivered remarks at the meeting as the chairman of the State Security Council. He shared that the only way to have effective security in our country is through partnership and collaboration among the various security agencies. Particularly, he mentioned the military. Meanwhile, he was happy to note that the Navy is not alone here, but we have other sister military bodies in this course.

He added that he would like to also appreciate the Nigerian Navy. They have been up and doing even in the recently concluded election. The Navy played an impartial role. The Navy played a professional role. I like to call on the Navy to be apolitical and professional and continue to deliver the aims and objectives. Governor Douye Diri said that “We are proud of the Navy here in Bayelsa,”
