Land of Hope- The Non-Government Organization rescues children accused of being witches and saves them from being tortured and abused by their families in the name of superstitions recently shared the story of their newest rescue, Peter. The NGO rescued the orphaned boy after some locals in his community informed the authorities about the abuse that he was undergoing.

As per the update shared by Land of Hope, Peter is an orphan who lives with his aunt and uncle. They accused him of using witchcraft spirits to poison their food and abandoned him. Afterwards, he lived on the street for months and slept in incomplete buildings or bushes at night.

The authorities at the NGO also informed the public about the problems the boy faced living in such circumstances. Some community members accused him of stealing from their shop. The people took him to an unknown location and tortured him. They used a hammer to break his bones. At the time of his rescue, the authorities found him with two knee joints damaged and his front teeth removed with a plier.

After he the community members tortured him under the influence of their superstition, He crawled into a bush to hide. After that, some people who knew about the land of hope spotted the boy and called the NGO. David Emmanuel Umem picked him up and brought him to the Land of Hope on March 22, 2023. The authorities assured that the boy is currently safe in the organization. However, he requires urgent medical treatment.
