Tayo Aina recently shared a video of his travel to Portugal, where his hotel caught fire. The storyteller, YouTuber and filmmaker shared his experience during the emergency through his social media. He asserted that this was the first time he experienced a fire emergency play out in real-time.

Tayo Aina shared his amazement at the efficiency of the people in dealing with the emergency situation. Meanwhile, when the fire started, Tayo Aina was only bothered about the emergency once the people asked him to get out of the hotel room and into the open areas to converge.

He shared that the way these guys went about their job efficiently & proudly was so impressive. They came in less than 5 mins to put out the fire saving lives and property. He was happy with how the fire marshals took responsibility for dealing with the situation. He also noted that they had the equipment to deal with the crisis.

They also managed to save the life of a lady trapped inside her hotel room. According to Aina, this was the room where the fire started. He hoped, while sharing this video, that the authorities could recreate this kind of rapid response in the different countries of Africa.

The YouTuber and storyteller then asked his followers and other social media users what they think will be their country’s response time in a similar situation. Several social media users took the opportunity to criticise the authorities in Nigeria because they believe that Nigeria will not be able to replicate such efficiency in rapid response.

Several people asserted that “Nigeria can not be a part of this discussion.” Another social media user claimed,

In America, maybe 3-5 minutes tops! In Nigeria, I don’t even think we have those, please what a fire truck? If we did, it would take 3 hours or more, considering there will be no fuel for the truck or the driving personnel would not be available 😆
