World Happiness Index ranks Nigeria 6th happiest African nation

Meanwhile, the country has ranked 95th on the happiness index worldwide. The 2023 edition of the World Happiness Report awarded the country 4.981 points.

Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) announced the happiest countries in the world for the year 2023 through the World Happiness Report, which they published to commemorate the International Day of Happiness, celebrated annually on March 20.

According to the reports, Nigeria has improved their ranking by 23 places in the world happiness ranking. Out of the 137 countries surveyed by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Nigeria ranks at the 95th position. The data shows that Nigeria ranks below countries like Guinea, Ukraine, Ivory Coast and Gabon. However, the government has secured a spot above Cameroon, Mozambique, Iraq, Palestine and Morocco in the world happiness index.

Notably, Mauritius is the happiest African country in the yearly United Nations-sponsored Happiness report and index of 137 nations. The country secured 5.902 points. Algeria retained the place for the second happiest African Nation with 5.329 points. meanwhile, The index ranked South Africa in third place with 5.275 points, Congo Brazzaville gained 5.267 points in the world happiness index, Additionally, Guinea was given 5.072 points in the survey, Cote d’Ivoire or the Ivory Coast received 5.053 points, and Gabon received 5.035, allowing them to gain the next few spots.

Further, The Gallup World Poll data supported the survey. The report shows that Finland has remained the happiest Nation for the sixth consecutive time. The happiness score of the Nation is a score significantly ahead of all other countries. Meanwhile, according to the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Afghanistan has been ranked the least happy country in the world. The country is currently at the bottom of the ranking in a league table of 137 countries
