Saint Lucia: PM Philip J Pierre commits to advancing regionalism in 44th CARICOM Meeting

Philip J Pierre, is looking forward to participating in the Forty-Fourth Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre, is looking forward to participating in the Forty-Fourth Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). Prime Minister Pierre, also the minister of finance in the government of Saint Lucia, took to his social media account to share that while at the conference, he would work on furthering the cause of regionalism in the Caribbean Countries.

The Forty-Fourth Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will be held in Barbados from February 15, 2023.

Prime Minister Pierre believes that the increased cooperation among the countries of CARICOM would benefit the people. Accordingly, he has committed through a social media post to further the cause of regionalism with his colleagues.

Meanwhile, PM Pierre elaborates further that The work of the Prime Ministerial Sub-Committee on CARICOM Single Market & Economy (CSME) will assist in shaping and accelerating the desire for a more integrated region.

2023 is a very important year from the perspective of the Caribbean Community. Especially the host nation of the Forty-Fourth Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Bahamas. Reportedly, the Caribbean Community is celebrating their fiftieth anniversary, a milestone occasion. Meanwhile, the Bahamas, hosting the 2023 edition of the regular meetings, will celebrate 40 years of association with CARICOM as a member state.

The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J pierre has always remained committed to promoting cooperation among the member states of CARICOM. He is also one of the most active members of the regional meetings to sort out issues faced by the people of the Caribbean.

One example of this is PM Philip’s recent engagement with his colleagues, including the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, to discuss issues related to inter-regional travel.
