Kenya: CS Namwamba gives remarks at closing KIW 2022, pledges support

Ababu Namwamba, the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Youth Affairs, sports and the Arts, was invited to register his presence at the closing and award ceremony of the Kenya Innovation Week 2022. 

Ababu Namwamba, the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Youth Affairs, sports and the Arts, was invited to register his presence at the closing and award ceremony of the Kenya Innovation Week 2022. 

The event was scheduled for Friday, December 9, 2022. The Principal Secretary, Cpt Ismail Maalim, represented Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba at the closing and award ceremony. Kenya National Innovation Agency hosted this year’s Kenya Innovation week under the theme “Connecting Innovations GLocally.” 

The Kenya National Innovation Agency organizes Kenya Innovation Week. The event intends to display the innovativeness of Kenyans. During Innovation week, numerous innovators showcase their various innovations on display. These innovative ideas are then likely to be picked up by the investors. 

The government of Kenya is committed to mainstreaming innovation into a way of life, from strengthening the education system to investing in research and commercialization.

The President of Kenya, William Ruto, officiated the Kenya Innovation Week. While officiating the #KIW2022, The president said the Government of Kenya would partner with the various stakeholders to create platforms that will foster innovations, promote start-ups, strengthen research and propel uptake of emerging technologies.

The Kenya Innovation Week has created a platform for Kenyan innovators to dominate the world as part of the effort to shine a global light on local innovations.

The Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Ababu Namwamba, also delivered his address at the closing ceremony of the Kenya Innovation Week 2022.

While giving the remarks of the Cabinet Secretary, Ababu Nwachukwu, his representative, said that his Ministry, through the State Department for Youth Affairs, will be committed to supporting innovative efforts by the youth in line with the Kenya Youth Development Policy (2019). The policy seeks to establish a network of talent development institutions to support and incubate the ideas and talents of the emerging generation of highly creative youth.
