FRIENDS fame, Matthew Perry, launches his memoir Friends, Lovers and The Big Terrible Thing

On February 11, 2022, Perry stunned everyone with a Twitter post which showed the cover page of his memoir with the caption, “So much has been written about me by many individuals during the past. I felt it was time people heard from me. In my life, the highs were high; the lows were low. But I have lived to tell the story, even though, at times, it seemed like I would not. And it is all in here. I apologize; it is not a pop-up book.”

Everyone around the world loves Matthew Perry as he left a profound impact on everyone’s heart and mind through his character Chandler in the mega-hit series FRIENDS. 

The series was launched in 1994 and ended in 2004. It comprises of 10 seasons and is still watched by people of every age group. 

On June 15, 2022, Perry completed his memoir and shared the picture of “its front page with a pen on it”, under which he wrote, “My ego does not like that I have to stop writing about myself and my life. But the book – my memoir is now done. So that’s that.”

Matthew Perry is also conducting a book tour this month to share stories from FRIENDS, LOVERS, AND THE BIG TERRIBLE THING.

His book tour will be as follows: 

  • November 2: New York, NY – The Town Hall 
  • November 4: Princeton, New Jersey – Hyatt Regency Princeton
  • November 6 – Washington, DC – Warner Theatre 
  • November 10 – Toronto, Ontario – Hot Docs 

He gave a synopsis of his memoir and the audiobook, which was as follows:

“So here it was – FAME. Just as we had anticipated, Friends was huge, and I could not risk that as I loved the scripts, my co-actors, and everything about the show, but I was also struggling with my addictions, which only added to my sense of shame. I had a secret that no one else could know.”

And just like that, he left everyone in huge suspense! 

The book revolves around his life which revolves around fame, addiction and recovery in the aftermath of a life-threatening health scare. 

His memoir is getting a fantastic response, as two of his book tours are already sold out. 

On the day of his book launch, he thanked everyone through his official social media handle for all the love and support people showed him and his book. He said that it truly means a lot to him. He asked everyone to purchase the book and said, “You’ll laugh and cry; I know I did! I cannot wait to hear what you think.”
