Ghana to host its first international breakdance competition

Ghana is hosting their first official Afrobreak International Championship. It is the first dance event to be hosted in the african nation.

Ghana is hosting their first official Afrobreak International Championship. This event is the first official international break dance and dance sports championship, which the organizers have planned to host in the african nation. 

The event organizers expect this event to bring dance athletes and hip-hop practitioners from across the corners of the globe to promote break dancing as an Olympic sport and tourism.

In the words of Nana Tuffour Okai, popularly known as “Bboy lyricx”, the theme for the project was break dancing to combat sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment. Okai is the pioneer of Afrobreak Concepts worldwide. 

The competition is open to all. Competitors for the championship include Whirlz-Nigeria, Kofi Black- from Ghana, Smith-Benin, Pape-Senegal, Roxy Emrich and Blesso Ghana, Matie-Togo, Shemelon is also from Ghana, Delkrim-Ivory Coast, Spinol-Togo, Tayo Tiara- Nigeria, Venom-Senegal, Monster Black- Sierra Leone, Declown-Ghana, Usher Scott-Ghana.

Disc Jockeys for the event would be DJ Teck Zilla-Nigeria, Nick mafia and Kitty from Ghana, and Masters of Ceremony would be Mickie Flex and K2 from Ghana.

The organizers of the  Afrobreak International Championship also decided and instated members of the Board of Jury for the event 

The jury of judges includes Shaymin from France, JC Jedor from Nigeria and Bboy Lyricx from the organizing nation.

The event is scheduled to take place for three days from Thursday, October 27, 2022, to Saturday, October 29, 2022.

On the first day of the event, Thursday, October 27, 2022, there will be a hip-hop Conference at Nima-Mamobi Community Learning Centre. The conference will start at about 1:00 PM

On Day 2 of the event, Friday, October 28, 2022, there will be a Community Showcase and battle exhibition at the James Town Police Station roundabout. The show will start at 3:00 PM.

On the event’s final day, Saturday, October 29, 2022, would be the Afrobreak International Championship at Dunk Grassroots, James Town.
