Nigeria: Two vigilantes have been arrested by the police command in Bauchi State as they were suspected of raping a housewife at gunpoint. The incident happened at Dogon-ruwa village, Ningi Local government areas of the state.
As per the commanding officer, they have also arrested another suspect who was blamed for sexually assaulting a 3-year-old girl in Jimbin Village, Ganjuwa Local Government Area.
SP Ahmed Wakil- the Spokesman of the command, stated that they have arrested two vigilantes and issued the statement on Tuesday. The husband of the housewife has reported the incident to the Ningi Police Division.
The detectives arressted the two suspects later, as per Wakil. The suspects were identified as Lawali Sule and Babangida Shehu. They both are members of the vigilance group in Dogon-ruwa village.
While stating the incident, he asserted that it occurred on August 25 at around two am. The two suspects made the conspiracy and headed toward the matrimonial house of the women. They further armed the women with Dane guns.
Reportedly, the vigilantes asked her husband, who was out of the house at the respective time. They further threatened her with the guns and had carnal knowledge of her.
Wakil asserted that the victim was further rushed to General Hospital Ningi for medical examination, which confirmed the signs of the penetration.
He added that the two suspects confirmed their crime during the investigation, and two guns were also recovered from them.
On the other hand, the team has also arrested one more suspect who is blamed for sexually assaulting a 3-year-old girl in Jimbin village, Ganjuwa local government area. He was identified as Mato Yohannah, 27.
As per Wakil, the suspect confirmed that the girl was sexually assaulted by the man for the second time. He added that three suspects would be jailed and prosecuted to ensure justice for the victim who suffered a lot.
