Six NNPP supporters die in an auto accident at the convoy of their presidential candidate

Six supporters of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) lost their lives due to an auto accident that happened near Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State.

Six supporters of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) lost their lives due to an auto accident that happened near Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State.

The political Party’s Presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso was visiting the state at the time of the occurrence of the motor accident.


Four of these people had died on the spot as a result of the accident, while out of the others who were taken to the hospital in critical condition, two more political party supporters died later.

The regional Chairman of the Party, Mr Sidi Bako, confirmed the specifics and occurrence of the accident in an interview.

“It was an unfortunate incident which threw the party into mourning.” Said Bako, adding that the (political party) will pray for the repose of the souls of our members who lost their lives during the visit of our leader and presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Later, he declared that the party would rise out of this unfortunate development stronger and emerge victorious at every tier of elections scheduled to take place in 2023.

According to some sources, Kwankwaso was in the state to commission the state secretariat of the party.

A bus commuting the supporters of the party allegedly lost control while in the convoy of the presidential candidate, leading to the death of four persons at the accident scene.


The regional Chairman of the party said some members also sustained various degrees of injuries during the incident. He, however, said the authorities could not immediately ascertain the number of those involved.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the former governor of Kano State commiserated with the people of the state, families of the deceased and NNPP over the unfortunate incident.

He also added that the NNPP is a suitable alternative to both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
