Anambra police arrested a group of four people who tricked males by trapping them into fake romantic relationships and later blackmailed them with their nude videos and photos.

Two males and two females were arrested on Thursday evening in Ajakpani, Umunya, a community in the Oyi Local Government Area of the state, said Tochukwu Ikenga, The police spokesperson in the state.

Okechukwu Ogoejiofor,36, Nonso Nwizu, 34, Esther Nwafor, 21, and Obianuju Nduba, 20 are suspected names.

Ikenga said that the group of four used fake social media accounts to lure male victims into fake romantic relationships and then used nude video clips for blackmailing.

The suspect used to develop fake relationships online and lured men into the room ready for sex. In addition, he said that during foreplay between the couple, the other suspect forcefully entered the room and took nude video clips and photos of the couple.

Afterwards, the suspect used nude video clips and photographs to blackmail the victim and upload them on social media.

Ikenga said, “They also dispossess the individual of his personal belongings”. He also said that the suspects would be charged as soon as the investigations began.

The group blackmailed by using nude video clips and photographs against the victim, forcing them to transfer considerable money to their bank account.

Mr Echeng has warned public members to be wary of the activities of criminal elements who have taken their trade to social media, said the Commissioner of Police.
