Iloka, who is charged with the accuse of culpable homicide, was suspended earlier by the state government on Friday to provide room for an unbiased investigation of the case.

While confirming this on Wednesday, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Anambra State police spokesperson, stated that an autopsy of the dead body would be carried out to prove the cause of the death of his wife.

The LG boss is in police custody now, and police are urging the members of the public to stay patient as the autopsy reports will prove the cause of the wife’s death.

Ikenga added that further investigation is still in progress.

The source stated that his arrest was because of a petition raised by the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) on Monday, August 15 and was addressed to Usman Alkali Babathe, the Inspector-General of Police at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters.

HURIWA is said to have dragged the suspended council boss to the IGP baba over concerns bordering on domestic violence.
