In September 2021, the Trial was held, and the State re-arraigned the Convict before the Special Offences Court. At the reopening of the Trial, the prosecutor presented another witness to prove allegations against the Convict.

The court was informed by Defence Counsel Anthonia Otsokawa and State Counsel, O.A Bajulaiye that the Convict has decided to change the plea. The Judge ordered their petition to be accepted. The appeal was read in the Yoruba language, and they pleaded guilty to two-count charges.

The State Counsel O.A Bajulaiye reviewed the facts of the case and urged the court to convict them accordingly. Defendant Counsel Anthonia Otsokwa requested the court that the convicts realise their offence and are regretful for their transgression of murdering seven-year-old boy Rafiu.

In the case, Judge Taiwo noted that the case is alarming and hurting how the murder of a small boy conspired, and he was beheaded brutally for ritual purposes.
