He stated that the agency thought to include persons with disabilities and weak and underprivileged people in the state to boost the overall literacy rate.

Abbas stated that each new learner, consisting of 20 men and five women, has been provided with a solar-powered radio to participate in the programme.

The development is part of the state government’s dedication towards the inclusive provision of education to all categories of people, including individuals with disabilities, vulnerable as well as disadvantaged people in the state.

The executive secretary stated that the programme strives to eradicate illiteracy in the state, mainly among adults in rural regions.

Abbas further said that the programme would be aired on Radio Jigawa, where learners will listen using their radio sets.

The programme was launched to praise the efforts of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-formal Education (NMEC) in promoting mass literacy in the state.
