The ex-governor of Anambra also stated that every state must be placed in charge of its own security.

The comments of Obi came a few hours after the terrorists who attacked an Abuja-Kaduna train earlier on March 28, 2022, set free three victims out of the 62 hostages they kidnapped.

The terrorists had on Sunday, July 24, released a disturbing video in which the victims were being flogged, even as the terrorists threatened to sell some of them into slavery and kill others.

While reacting to the incident and others around the nation, the Labour Party’s Presidential Flagbearer stated that there were so many things that he would put in place to stem the tide of insecurity, most of which he couldn’t mention in front of everyone.

Obi stated that to improve the security situation in Nigeria, as President, he will ensure the economy works and more people are pulled out of poverty.

He added that the more you pull people out of poverty, the more you reduce crime. It is vital as long as the economy persists in heading south like we are seeing today, criminality will rise.
