The Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP) has warned to launch a solidarity strike over the prolonged and continuous industrial action by the ASUU (Academic Staff Union of Universities).

As per the association, the prolonged strike by the university-based union has mocked Nigeria’s education system with rising social vices capable of ruining the lives of the youths, which are the country’s future.

NASU, ASUU, NAAT, and SAUTHRIAI had been on strike for over four months now because of the alleged failure of the government to sign the re-negotiated agreement of 2009 with ASUU, failure to honour the terms arrived in May 2022 MoU signed with ASUU, as well as a chronic failure of government to admire Collective Bargaining Agreements willingly signed with labour Unions,” read the statement.

It further added that the continuous strikes by ASUU would mark the value of education which is the nation’s bedrock.

It further highlighted that the strike was impacting not only the students but also their parents, adding that the poor economy has also impacted every family in the nation.

The statement further added that our children are using eight years to read courses of four years with resources being wasted to much extent, we cannot persist this way.

The union has maintained that its members will take part in the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in safeguarding the terrible position of the tertiary education sector in the nation.
