Kosara Ugwuka, a middle-aged man, has reportedly killed his elder brother with the use of rat poison due to some land dispute in Akala village in Ezinifite, Nnewi South LGA of Anambra State of Nigeria.
Ugwuka was reported to have confessed his crime publicly of being responsible for the sudden death of the deceased, Chukwudi Ugwuka, in front of a shrine at Nando in the Anambra Local Government Area.
It was found that the incident took place during last Easter while the victim was eventually confirmed dead on April 27, 2022, after struggling from a series of mysterious sicknesses from one hospital to another.
On Tuesday, July 12, a family member, while narrating the incident, pleaded his anonymity and said that Ugwuka reportedly denied knowing about the cause of his brother’s death until he was taken to the shrine.
He further added that both he and the nephew were interrogated continuously. Still, the nephew said that he was innocent, while Ugwuka persisted in accusing him and also denied any of his involvement in the whole situation.
As a result, the villagers had to stop to use traditional methods of unravelling the truth. They then took them both to a famous shrine at Nando during last Sunday to swear before the deity, to confirm that they were innocent.
After his nephew had sworn and was cleared, Ugwuka was hooked and immediately blinded by the deity while swearing, which further made him begin to confess instantly.
It was during the confession that he disclosed that he killed his elder brother with rat poison due to a land dispute.
A viral video showed Ugwuka kneeling down and confessing at the shrine while being questioned by the villagers. This video went viral on social media, and comments from police officials are being awaited for further information.
