Nigeria: Police in Bauchi have caught an alleged ritualist, Issac Ezekiel, who is said to have plucked the eyes of a 16-year-old teenager, Uzairu Salisu, of Juhun quarters located in the Bauchi metropolis.

While parading the suspects, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the State Police Public Relations Officer, said that the incident happened on Jira Mountain in Yelwa, a suburb of the Bauchi metropolis.

SP Wakil told in a statement that on June 24, around 9:00 am, the suspect, Isaac Ezekiel drew a 16-year-old boy, Uzairu Salisu of Jahun Bauchi Metropolitan, in a nearby area for a casual job on his farm where he made the boy go into a state of coma with the use of a cable wire and then used a knife to pluck out his eyes as part of a ritual.

As per a statement that was released on Monday, June 27, findings disclosed that the main suspect, Issac Ezekiel, aged 32, of Rafin Zurfi quarters, Yelwa of Bauchi metropolis, had earlier in April 2022 plotted with the two other accused to devise the idea to commit the atrocity of obtaining the eyeballs of a human being.

SP Wakil has managed to identify the other two suspects as Nensok Bawa, aged 38, of the Kabwir district in Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau state, as well as Yohana Luka, aged 52, aka Doctor Samu of the Golbong Village Amper district in Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau state.

The PPRO also revealed that exhibits had been recovered from the principal suspect also, including; cable wire, two human eyeballs in a calabash, and a ravelling bag which had some local medicines.

He further explained that the suspect, Isaac Ezekiel, confessed to his crime voluntarily, as investigations into the incident continue, after which all three suspects will be charged to court.
