Nigeria Unites to celebrate Hilda Effiong Bassey for world Record

Nigerian Chef Hilda Effiong Bassey is the new world record holder for cooking continuously for 100 hours. This effort by the Nigerian chef did not only give her the honour of being featured in the Guinness Book of World Records but also brought her international recognition.

The Nigeria-based chef started cooking food on May 11, 2023. After four days and hours of continuous cooking, Hilda Baci is now a world record holder. 

Nigeria is celebrating the accomplishment of the young chef with a lot of pomp and show. As a unified country, Nigeria is showering compliments and commendations on Hilda. All of Nigeria has come out to various social media to applaud the efforts of the now record-holder chef. Even though the country usually struggles with internal conflicts and disagreements, Hilda allows the nation to unite.

Political leaders, social media users, influencers, ambassadors and even the common population of the country have expressed their pride in Hilda Effiong Bassey or Hilda Baci. Several accounts on social media have suggested that while she was cooking continuously for 100 hours, the restaurant served the said food to the customers. The said customers have also come out to applaud her. The customer said that even though she had been cooking continuously for days, it did not reflect the taste of the food. 

The people expressed their disbelief in the claim, stating it was a testament to her talent. She made delicious food even after four days of continuous cooking. Lagos-based YouTuber and food vlogger Yemisi Sophie Odusanya, better known as Sisi Yemmie, shared a video of Hilda Effiong Bassey on her youtube account. Yemisi claimed that she knew the young chef from before. According to the Youtuber, she was a judge at a cooking contest where Hilda was cooking. 

Meanwhile, the young Nigerian chef received the support of several high-ranking politicians and political leaders for her success. The names of these politicians include the current President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari; the President-Elect of Nigeria, Bola Ahmad Tinubu and the Director General of the World Trade Organization, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, among others. 

President Muhammadu Buhari shared his appreciation for the young chef with the following words:

I share the immense joy of all Nigerians as Hilda Bassey Effiong (Hilda Baci) makes history by breaking the world record for the longest cooking marathon. A great day for Nigeria. We’re all very proud of what she has personally accomplished—and placing Nigeria in the global spotlight

The President-Elect of Nigeria, Bola Ahmad Tinubu, also shared his excitement over the accomplishment. Additionally, He applauded Hilda with the words:

I congratulate Hilda Effiong Bassey on her record-breaking achievement. It was a remarkable display of the Nigerian can-do attitude and the spirit of excellence that lies within. We are all deeply proud of her.

Prominent Leader of the Labour Party of Nigeria, Peter Obi, also shared his excitement with the following tweet.

Additionally, Director General of World Trade Organization, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, shared her excitement with the words:

Congratulations to Hilda Effiong Bassey a young entrepreneurial Nigerian who had a vision to enter the Guinness Book of World Records through a marathon cookaton! She has done it with the can-do spirit of young Nigerians!!

This is the first time that all the leaders, prominent politicians, ambassasdors and people of Nigeria have come together to celebrate an accomplishment of their own without the barrier of discrimination, caste or tribe.
