Renowned Veteran Nollywood filmmaker and actor Kunle Afolayan recently interacted with the media regarding his latest movie Anikulapo.

Renowned Veteran Nollywood filmmaker and actor Kunle Afolayan recently interacted with the media regarding his latest movie Anikulapo. The film will be the Nollywood filmmaker/actor’s third of his Netflix original in the last two years.

While interacting with the media, talking about his latest movie, Afolayan said that the film is a surreal portrayal of the ancient Yoruba culture and the beliefs which are based on the Ifa mythology.


According to Nigerian Filmmaker, Kunle, “The backdrop story of this film is from Ifa, and then we added a bit of the Yoruba mythology to (the project). The film aims to help people understand more about our culture, beliefs, and ways. It will portray what the Yoruba empire used to be like in those days governance-wise and the lifestyle.”

When the media asked Kunle to give an estimated value of what it cost to produce Anikulapo, he said that bringing all of the ideas he had in mind for the film to life cost him a lot of money.

The fimmaker further revealed that they built the entire set the movie was shot on from scratch. He also announced that he intends to turn the place into a film village after the shooting concludes.

Kunle Afolayan is a film-making genius. He has brought lorels and praise to the Nigerian Film-making industry throughout his career. His latest release, Anikulapo, is the third film from the Veteran filmmaker to grace the international platform of Netflix. It would be right to remember the filmmaker for his brilliant successes in global media.

One of those successes would be the collective victory that Nollywood and the African movie industry achieved. The Nigerian movie producer Kunle Afolayan’s 2020 film “Citation “won another award in the ‘Best International Film’ category at the UK’s just-concluded National Film Awards (NFA).

The nomination and the win brought great joy and praise to Nigeria and the African film industry, giving the movie industry a much-needed boost in visibility.
