The victim’s father, Akinola Amidu stated that his son started vomiting soon after the physical punishment and was rushed to the nearest hospital, where he died.
The troubled father alleged that the school management was trying to cover up his son’s death and safeguard the Mathematics teacher, one Steven, who beat Emmanuel for not finishing his assignment.
His father said that his son went to school with no health issues, but he was called by the management that his son had been vomiting. After reaching the school, the boy was taken to the hospital, where he died.
His father further said that after some time, he got to know that his son’s class teacher, Mr Steven, had beaten up those students who hadn’t completed their assignments yet.
Meanwhile, the school management immediately went to the Morogbo Police Station at Agbara to report the incident that the boy had died due to vomiting, as they wanted to cover the whole beating incident.
The deceased’s father, Akinola, 45, asked for the accused teacher’s arrest and prosecution and asked the state government and the police to give justice to his son.
Emmanuel’s 13-year-old sister, Rachael, verified that her brother vomited only after getting beaten as he became unconscious.
She stated, “Our English teacher called me that my brother was not feeling well and he did not eat and had been sleeping for a long. His friend told me that they were beaten for not doing their sums in mathematics, and after that, he was just sleeping and vomiting.”
