The Nigeria women's U-20 team had a winning start during the 10th FIFA U20 World Cup in Costa Rica on Friday morning as they battled to a 1-0 win over France in their first Group C match.

During the final day of Athletics at the Commonwealth Games 2022 being held in Birmingham, Nigerian athlete Ese Brume twice jumped to a new Games Record, by jumping 7.00m (+1.6) to reclaim the Long Jump Commonwealth title, which she won last time during the Glasgow 2014 edition.

Nigerian athlete Tobiloba Ayomide Amusan, officially known as Tobi Amusan, created history as the first Nigeria track field athlete as well as the second in history to defend a Commonwealth Games 100m hurdles title successfully.

Nigeria has outperformed South Africa and became the leading African team in the medals list of the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 being held at Birmingham, United Kingdom, with another gold medal to its total tally, making it 33. 

Nigeria won another silver medal with Ikechukwu Christian Obichukwu winning in the final of the men's Para-Powerlifting (Heavyweight) event during the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 being held in Birmingham. 

The 23-year-old Nigerian athlete Nwachukwu Goodness has achieved Nigeria's fourth gold medal during the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. She did it exceptionally by breaking the world record twice before achieving the top prize.

Nigeria wins the Gold medal in the Women's Discus event at the Commonwealth Games 2022 for the first time in history.

Nigeria has won its second gold medal on Sunday, July 31, and its second bronze medal on Monday, August 1, at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. 

Tobi Amusan from Nigeria broke the women's 100m hurdles world record after performing spectacularly during the semi-final at the World Athletics Championships held in Oregon on Sunday, July 25.
