Apple Re-released iOS 12.1.2 with Tweaks Concerned With China’s Court Orders

Cupertino giant, Apple has recently re-released its iOS 12.1.2 just days after releasing it on Monday. Hence, the second build of iOS 12.1.2 has been made available for download for users who didn’t install the previous update. What this means is that users who updated their phones with the earlier iOS 12.1.2 won’t receive the recently updated version of it. The first software update of iOS fixed bugs related to eSIM activation on iPhone XR (which has been priced at Rs 70,849), iPhone XS (which has been priced at Rs 94,281), and iPhone XS Max. The changelog looks like it is the same in case of the second build as well.

People at AppleInsider said that the second build of iOS 12.1.2 has a different build number (which is 16C104) in comparison to the original iOS update’s build number (which is 16C101). Apple didn’t specify the reason behind the changes in this build number or re-releasing the new update. But it seems like the re-released version of iOS includes bug fixes which were not present in the previous release. This iOS released has no security updates, but comes with software tweaks which have managed to address China’s “any possible concern” issue which was concerned with Apple’s compliance with a court order which banned selling their older iPhone models in China. These tweaks have been done in the form of new animation to force close the apps in China, according to China-specific changelog. The animation causes the apps that shrink to close instead of moving up and off the screen.

Steps to download the 12.1.2 update-

This update is compatible with all the iPhone models that run on iOS 12. To download and install the latest version of this version on your device, follow the steps below-

  • Go to Settings -> General -> Software Update
